The New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (eTA) allows eligible foreign nationals to visit New Zealand for tourism, business, and transit. Valid for 2 years with multiple entries, up to 90 days per stay.
The New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (eTA) is a digital pre-travel permission linked to your passport. It allows eligible citizens to visit New Zealand for tourism, business, or transit without needing a full visa. The eTA is valid for 2 years from the date of issue or until your passport expires, whichever comes first, and allows multiple entries with each stay up to 90 days.
Important: The New Zealand eTA does NOT guarantee entry into New Zealand. Final admission is determined by New Zealand Immigration officials at the port of entry.
The eTA is required for:
Citizens of visa-waiver countries visiting for tourism, holidays, or sightseeing
Travelers attending business meetings, conferences, or short-term work activities
Passengers transiting through New Zealand airports
Citizens and passport holders from the following visa-waiver countries and territories must obtain an NZeTA before travelling to New Zealand:
Note: Australian citizens and permanent residents travelling on an Australian passport do NOT need an NZeTA. Some entries have special conditions (e.g. Greece, Hong Kong, Latvia, Lithuania, Macau, Portugal, Taiwan, UK). Always verify at immigration.govt.nz before travelling.
