What is the Sri Lanka ETA (eVisa)?

The Sri Lanka Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) is an online visa system that allows eligible foreign nationals to obtain a visa before arrival. It is valid for 6 months from the date of issue and allows a stay of up to 30 days per entry. The ETA can be single or double entry depending on your choice. It is the most convenient way to apply for a Sri Lanka tourist or business visa without visiting an embassy.

Important: The Sri Lanka ETA does NOT guarantee entry into Sri Lanka. Final admission is determined by Sri Lankan immigration officers at the port of entry.

Who Needs a Sri Lanka eVisa?

The ETA/eVisa is required for:

Citizens of most countries visiting Sri Lanka for tourism, holidays, or sightseeing

Business travelers attending meetings, conferences, or short-term commercial activities

Travelers transiting through Bandaranaike International Airport (Colombo)

Who Does NOT Need a Sri Lanka eVisa:

  • Citizens of Singapore and Maldives enjoy visa-free access to Sri Lanka
