L-1A: Managers & Executives
For managers and executives transferred to U.S. offices.
Initial stay: Up to 3 years · Maximum stay: 7 years total
L-1B: Specialized Knowledge
For employees with specialized knowledge of company's products, services, or procedures.
Initial stay: Up to 3 years · Maximum stay: 5 years total

Must have worked for foreign company for at least 1 continuous year in past 3 years

U.S. employer files petition with USCIS

Receive Notice of Action (Form I-797)
